TYPICAL RANDOM ERRORS IN THE TC-2290:
A) One or more of the buttons doesn't function:The cable leading from the front may be defect; try a new cable or if this doesn't help check with a new front to see whether the error is on the front or the main board. If only one button is malfunctioning there might be dirt on the contact-points. Try to disassemble the button (can be done without dismantling the 2290) and clean the contact points with a little isopropyl alcohol. If on the other hand a set of buttons is malfunctioning the problem might be a certain wire in the cable. Localize this wire by means of the front-diagram.
B) Heavy noise/distortion on the DELAY-signal path: Detected with DIR-VOL = 0. SPEC#7 may be set wrong. See 'USER DEPENDED ERRORS'. Another common error is dirt on the ME-board-connector. Try to clean with some isopropyl alcohol. Check also that all IC's on the ME-board is oriented correctly. If a MEO4 option was also mounted check likewise these IC's. This error may also, but less likely, reside due to dirt on the converter-connector J5. Clean J5 with a little isopropyl. alcohol. If this doesn't help, try to exchange the converter with a new (if you got one!). If this did help, send the 'old' converter for repair at T.C. Denmark.
C) Periodically/constant 'weak' noise on direct or delay signal path or both:This error is most often due to remaining of flux from the solder-bath residing in the SEND/RETURN jacks of the external effects board. Try to After that insert/take out a male-jack several times in each SEND/RETURN-jack.
D) Using the XLR output connectors single ended:At times the XLR outputs are used non balanced e.g. only the in-phase signal is used. At the same time the inverted-phase signal in the XLR- output cable (pin 3) is forced to ground. Doing this with the 2290 is not allowed as it will cause distortion especially at the left output.
